Bike FAQ

If you don’t see your questions answered here, or would like more information,  please contact our Customer Service center.

  • The Bike Park looks very hardcore and a bit intimidating. Can I ride it ?

If you look up from the bottom of the Bike Park it’s easy to gain this impression – all the riders seem to be flying down at warp speeds and taking huge air. However, what you don’t see is the easy beginner trails and the beginner riders on those trails. EZ Does It is a green trail with a very gentle gradient and little in the way of rough terrain. A perfect venue for your first ride. Remember, if you rent a bike from Summit, you’ll be riding a state of the art machine that is specifically designed to make things easier for you.

If you are still feeling unsure, take a “intro to Park” lesson with the Whistler Mountain Bike Park and they will give you some tips and guide you through the beginner terrain.

  • Where do I pick up my reserved bike?

You can pick up your bike at our shop in the Hilton Whistler Resort (formerly the Whistler Village Resort), next to the Whistler and Blackcomb village gondolas..

  • Why should I book online?

First of all, it’s cheaper – if you book online you save up to 20% off our in-store rates.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, booking online secures your bike in advance. Despite having a large rental fleet, during the summer holidays and weekends, we often sell out of all types of bike. Avoid disappointment and pre-book your ride.

  • Do I need to rent armour and a full face helmet?

If you’re riding the Bike Park, we would strongly advise riding with the full protection set which you can add to your rental package. You may feel somewhat naked without it.

For cross country biking, many people feel more comfortable riding the harder trails (black diamond level) with leg and/or elbow pads.

For the easier trails and Valley Trail a standard cycle helmet (included with all our rentals) will be sufficient.

In BC, you are legally required to wear a helmet when riding on all public roads and trails.
